Commentary

A rather unflattering comic image of a husband being brow beaten by his wife and mother-in-law. Both are compared with a Dreadnought, a formidable early twentieth century battleship.

The “National Series” name was used by the publisher Millar & Lang. They were founded in Glasgow in 1903 and operated through to 1941 though in their later years the company moved to London. They were particularly known for their comic cards. They printed their own cards and actively sought to discourage imports from Germany hence the use of “National Series”.
